Faux Finishes

What is a faux finish anyway...?
"Faux" is a French word meaning false. The "faux finish" can create the look of something aged and worn over time, or mimic the color or look of another surface.

For Example:
- A textured and glazed wall creates the look of aged plaster.
- A new piece of furniture or cabinetry that is distressed and has a decorative painted finish on it may look like it has been used and abused for decades.
- An unfinished wood can be distressed and have a wash applied to create the look of old reclaimed wood.
- A faux finish can transform an ordinary painted mantel into an aged limestone mantel salvaged from a historic building, or brought over from an old mansion in Europe.
